2016 SMB visit – day 6

News may hit you about riots,,, we are fine and well  away from anything. No rioting here and all very calm.

No trouble only the odd motor bike and cheering

And now from the kids

Kawoko – Esuubi Cafe

Today we visited Kawoko church because the school was being used as a polling station for the elections. Firstly we were taught how to count to ten in Luganda and vice versa.

We then took the children outside where we arranged a mini sports day where Olly and Rory did some expert cheerleading. The children were surprisingly good at running whilst collecting tennis balls, considering they had never done it before.

After this we went back inside and Rory, Sam and Katie read the story of The Lion and the Mouse to the children. We then gave them some activities to do such as colouring in mice and lions and making bracelets with beads and string.

Finally we blew up balloons and blew bubbles for the children which they enjoyed very much before we had to say goodbye.

As a treat, Dodie then took us to Esuubi cafe where she kindly bought us all a drink and a snack. We also had the chance use some of our spending money to buy some gifts to take home. This money would all go to the orphanage that we had visited two days previously. Some of us also bought something for a new rule that had been introduced the night before which was known as ‘a random act of kindness’ to which we had to do to one of our peers that we had chosen out of a hat that morning.
